This Privacy Policy explains how TIE Academy, Inc. ("TIE Academy," "we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the Korean Parent Future Community web application and related services (the "Service").


1) Scope and Roles

  • Email address
  • Password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we do not store plaintext passwords)
  • Account approval status and role (member/moderator/admin/super_admin)

B. Profile and Community Information

  • Phone number
  • City/country and time zone
  • Self-introduction and profile content
  • Social media links (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, X, Kakao) and optional video links
  • Photos and albums you upload

C. Child-Related Information Provided by Parents

As provided by you (parents/guardians):

  • Child name
  • Child birth month/year (MM/YYYY)
  • Child gender (M/F)
  • Child interests (optional)

D. User-Generated Content

  • Posts, comments, reactions/upvotes, bookmarks
  • Messages (1:1 DMs)
  • Files you upload (PDFs/images), including associated metadata (file name, size, type)

E. Events and Calendar

  • Events created, RSVPs, event participation

F. Technical and Usage Data

  • Device and browser information
  • IP address (may be used for security, fraud prevention, and approximate location)
  • Log data (timestamps, pages viewed, actions taken)
  • Session and authentication tokens (typically via cookies or similar technologies)

3) How We Use Information (Purposes)

We use personal information to:

  1. Provide and operate the Service (accounts, profiles, boards, messages, events, courses)
  2. Maintain trust and safety (moderation, reporting, enforcement of rules, preventing abuse)
  3. Communicate with you (service announcements, security notices, event reminders, daily digest notifications)
  4. Improve the Service (analytics, performance monitoring, debugging)
  5. Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

4) Legal Bases for Processing (EU/EEA)

We do not sell personal information.

6) International Transfers (U.S., Korea, EU)

Because we are based in the United States and may use global service providers, your personal information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries.

  • EU/EEA: When transferring personal data outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
  • Korea (PIPA): Where required, we obtain and document appropriate consent or rely on a permitted basis for overseas transfer, and we provide relevant transfer information.

7) Data Retention

We retain personal information for up to 1 year from collection or last activity, unless:

  • Longer retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes; or
  • You request deletion earlier (subject to limited exceptions)

Examples: Messages may be deleted or de-identified after 1 year. Posts/comments may be archived or deleted after 1 year based on platform settings and legal needs.

8) Your Rights and Choices

A. General Account Controls

You can: Access and update profile information; request deletion of your account and personal information (subject to exceptions).

B. EU/EEA (GDPR) Rights

You may have the right to: Access, correct, delete; restrict or object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent (where applicable); lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

C. Korea (PIPA) Rights

You may have the right to: Request access, correction, deletion, and suspension of processing; withdraw consent (where applicable).

D. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state and our applicability thresholds, you may have rights such as access, delete, correct; obtain a copy of data (portability); opt out of certain processing. We do not sell; we do not use targeted advertising in MVP.

9) Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. Parents may provide limited child-related information as part of their parent profile and community participation.

10) Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies or similar technologies for: Authentication and session management (essential); security and fraud prevention; preferences (e.g., language). If we add non-essential analytics or marketing cookies, we will provide appropriate notices and choices, especially where required by EU law. Note: Embedded third-party content (e.g., YouTube) may set its own cookies subject to third-party policies.

11) Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is fully secure. Please use strong passwords and keep your account credentials confidential.
